Our story begins in 1792, when the Bani Yas tribe, a powerful and resourceful Bedouin community, settled in Abu Dhabi. They thrived in this challenging environment, building a stronghold that would later become the foundation of a nation. Life was centered around the desert, the sea, and the humble yet heroic activity of pearl diving.
But wait, the story doesn’t end there!
In 1833, a faction of the Bani Yas tribe, led by the courageous Al Maktoum family, ventured north and established a new home in Shindagha, Dubai. This little fishing village would one day become one of the most iconic cities in the world.
Fast forward to the 19th century, when the British arrived, drawn by the Gulf’s strategic location and booming trade routes. They were met with fierce resistance from local tribes, leading to the signing of agreements known as the Trucial States treaties. These treaties created a truce (hence the name!) and laid the groundwork for peace, trade, and development along the coast.

Everything changed on December 2, 1971, a date now celebrated as UAE National Day. Inspired by a vision of unity and prosperity, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum of Dubai led the effort to unite the emirates.
They were soon joined by Ajman, Fujairah, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and later Ras Al Khaimah. Together, they formed the United Arab Emirates, a bold and unprecedented step in the Arab world.
Since then, the UAE has evolved at lightning speed. From its humble beginnings as a collection of fishing villages and desert oases, it has grown into a global powerhouse. But the UAE never forgets its roots—its culture, traditions, and values remain at the heart of its identity.
